Zehra has deep technical skill, strong cross-border experience, and a creative approach to transactions which help clients realize their goals in their private equity and M&A dealmaking.
Zehra focuses on corporate and securities law with an emphasis on private equity and M&A. She plays a key role in advising and working with public and private companies, financial institutions and pension funds, including TorQuest Partners, Imperial Capital, TMX Group, the Brookfield Group, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and CPP Investments. Zehra advises clients in all aspects of investing and divestiture transactions, including asset and stock transactions, co-investments, shareholders arrangements, joint ventures, majority and minority equity investments and restructurings.
Zehra has experience working closely with clients through every stage in their development, from initial investments onward, including on complex matters like capital markets and M&A transactions and ongoing corporate, securities, compliance and governance work.
She also has significant cross-border experience, including having previously worked in Torys’ New York office on clients’ U.S. capital markets transactions and governance matters.

Zehra is a board member and member of the Governance Committee of the Whitney Child Centre, a not-for-profit child education centre. She is also a board member and/or committee member on various not-for-profit organization boards such as Girl Guides of Canada, Addus (an organization providing support for young adults with developmental disabilities) and the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario. In the past, for two consecutive years, she was also a mentor for high school students enrolled in the LAWS program and is presently a mentor for junior lawyers through the MAX-CMLA program.
