Three Torys partners honoured as top women in law

Torys is proud to announce that three partners—Karrin Powys-Lybbe, Linda Plumpton and Sylvie Rodrigue—have received prestigious recognitions for their contributions to the legal profession.

Co-chair of our M&A practice Karrin Powys-Lybbe was recognized as one of IFLR1000’s Women Leaders for 2020. This recognition is awarded to women lawyers who have impressive track records and are consistently recommended by clients and peers for their superior expertise and client service. Karrin was the Managing Partner of Torys’ New York office for four years and has been recognized by numerous law ranking indices as a leading lawyer over the course of her career, working with clients on some of their most important transactions and matters.

Linda Plumpton and Sylvie Rodrigue have been featured on Benchmark Litigation’s Top 50 Women Litigators in Canada list. This is the seventh year running that Torys partners have appeared on the list. Benchmark Litigation conducts extensive research into the country’s top women litigators who have participated in impactful litigation matters and who have received exceptional feedback from both their clients and peers.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Linda—who is Chair of Torys’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice—has received this recognition from Benchmark Litigation. Linda is a formidable litigator and in 2019, she become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL)—a prestigious honour bestowed on an exclusive group of top litigators. Additionally, Linda was named Ontario Litigator of the Year at the 2020 Benchmark Litigation Canada Awards.

Sylvie is Managing Partner of our Montréal office and leads our Class Actions practice. This is the sixth time she has received this recognition from Benchmark Litigation. Sylvie is a pillar in the legal community whose outstanding legal career led to her being awarded the designation of Advocatus Emeritus by the Québec Bar, a distinction awarded to only a few legal practitioners each year. Sylvie has also been listed as one of WXN’s Top 100 Women in Canada in 2016 and 2019 and she was named Product Liability Litigator of the Year at the 2020 Benchmark Litigation Canada Awards.
