Torys is pleased to announce that partner and chair of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice Linda Plumpton has been named the 2023 recipient of the Ontario Bar Association’s (OBA) Award of Excellence in Civil Litigation.
The OBA grants one award each year to a member who has made outstanding contributions to the practice and advancement of civil litigation. The award will be presented to Linda at an annual gala dinner hosted by the Civil Litigation Section on November 9, 2023, in Toronto.
An outstanding advocate, Linda is regularly sought out to act as lead counsel in Canada’s highest profile, most complex and sensitive matters. She is one of few Canadian barristers admitted as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a recognition that reflects not only her unmatched advocacy skills, but her high ethical and professional standards and commitment to improving the civil litigation bar. Year over year, Linda’s vision and leadership is highly regarded in the legal community. Most notably, she is ranked band 1 in Ontario litigation by Chambers Canada. She was recognized as the 2021 Litigation Lawyer of the Year by Chambers Canada, 2020 Ontario Litigator of the Year by Benchmark Litigation, and 2020 Litigator of the Year at the Canadian Law Awards. She is also consistently named a leading lawyer in various independent rating directories.
