Torys is pleased to share that partners Leah Frank and Nicole Mantini have been named 2024 Lexpert Rising Stars.
The Lexpert Rising Stars Awards recognizes leading young lawyers who have made remarkable contributions in their careers thus far. With reputations for delivering exceptionally high-caliber work, Leah and Nicole have been recognized for their deep legal acumen and outstanding client service. This award is also a testament to the impact Leah and Nicole have had on furthering female leadership within the legal profession.
Leah is an experienced corporate lawyer and rising star with a robust track record guiding public and private companies and institutional investors in their capital markets and M&A activities across industries. Her practice focuses on corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and public company advice. Known for her strategic and business-oriented counsel, Leah was named a leading lawyer in corporate law in Canada by Best Lawyers.
Outside of her busy practice, Leah is committed to supporting and empowering the next generation of women lawyers. She plays a key role in Torys’ Women Inspiring Women series, which bring women together for support and advocacy. Leah also acts as a mentor to many, helping junior women lawyers navigate the challenges of balancing work and family.
Nicole is a commercial litigator practising in life sciences, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology whose practice extends across patent and trademark litigation, product liability and class actions, and regulatory and judicial review proceedings. With deep knowledge of scientific subject matter, Nicole is particularly skilled at working with expert witnesses and transforming complex scientific concepts into persuasive advocacy. She has appeared as counsel in the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, at the trial and appellate level in the courts of Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia, and in the Supreme Court of Canada.
This recognition is not the first that Nicole has received from the legal community: she has been celebrated as a rising star and leading lawyer in life sciences and IP litigation by Chambers Canada, Benchmark Litigation, The Legal 500, Best Lawyers, IAM Patent 1000, and more.
