More sessions to be announced later in the year.
Negotiating your first set of legal docs
Legal agreements can be intimidating. They can seem overly long and full of jargon, which can be frustrating. In this session, U.S. lawyer Kristine Di Bacco, Partner at Fenwick and West, will join Konata Lake, Head of Torys’ Emerging Companies and VC practice, to deconstruct the most common documents you will encounter when building your startup—offering their perspectives on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border.
They will simplify financing and equity contracts, incorporation docs, shareholder agreements, and more—and explain what agreeing to them actually means for your business. Kristine and Konata will also share how to navigate the negotiation process around some of these documents and how to avoid common mistakes founders make. Attendees will receive takeaway materials to action the insights they have learned.
