The role of municipalities in broadband development

The pandemic has highlighted the digital divide between urban and rural areas, with many remote and indigenous communities having limited or no broadband access. Join us for this series as members of our infrastructure practice and key industry stakeholders share their latest insights and experiences in solving the broadband infrastructure gap.

Municipalities are deploying various strategies to identify the nature and magnitude of the market failure and connect unserved or underserved areas including conducting regional economic and geospatial analysis around existing broadband infrastructure to identify current and future needs and leveraging existing infrastructure and government subsidies to influence the location, technology, pricing and service levels of newly constructed broadband infrastructure.

Join us for this exploration of the approaches available to municipalities as well as a discussion on lessons learned from the broadband projects undertaken by EORN and SWIFT to date.
