Nick’s practice encompasses a broad range of corporate and administrative law matters, with an emphasis on regulatory and environmental frameworks in Canada’s electricity and energy sectors.

Prior to joining Torys, Nick clerked at the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta where he assisted justices in the adjudication of complex energy disputes. Nick has also served as pro bono counsel in a successful appeal before the federal Immigration Appeal Division.
During law school, Nick worked as a research assistant to multiple faculty members in connection with domestic and international climate law initiatives and the Canadian regulatory frameworks for carbon capture, utilization and storage and critical minerals. He was part of the executive team of the Environmental Law Society and served as an editor of the Alberta Law Review.
Before attending law school, Nick obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geological sciences and worked in domestic and international exploration with two major global energy companies.
