Marissa’s practice focuses on advising clients on regulatory compliance in the financial services and payments industry, with an emphasis on consumer protection. In the area of consumer protection, Marissa advises financial institutions on their obligations under both federal law and provincial law, and other financial service providers, manufacturers and retailers on their obligations under provincial law. Marissa also advises a variety of clients, including banks, insurance companies, securities dealers and investment advisers, on compliance with Canada’s anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and economic sanctions legislation.
Marissa has experience with both public and private M&A transactions.

Marissa is the co-chair of Women in Law@Torys.
Marissa has been involved in leading several charitable initiatives at Torys, including the Give a Day campaign in support of AIDS research and food drives for the Daily Bread Food Bank and Fort York Food Bank. She has also acted as a mentor with the Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) program, a high school program that uses legal education as a tool to assist students to succeed in school and become engaged and active citizens.
During law school, Marissa served as a senior editor and the co-chair of recruitment for the Osgoode Hall Law Journal.
