James’s practice focuses on regulatory compliance in the financial services industry, with an emphasis on federal and provincial consumer protection legislation. James also advises clients on compliance with Canada’s anti-money laundering and sanctions legislation.
James has experience with capital markets and M&A transactions.

James volunteers with the Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) program, a high school program that uses legal education as a tool to assist students to succeed in school and become engaged and active citizens.
During law school, James interned at a law firm in Shanghai, China, where he assisted with various corporate matters. James also worked as a policy advisor to the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador and as a business editor for The Globe and Mail newspaper.
