Benchmark Litigation honours Linda Plumpton and Sylvie Rodrigue, Ad. E. as litigators of the year

Toronto partner and chair of the firm’s Litigation practice Linda Plumpton and Torys Montréal Managing Partner and head of the firm’s national Class Actions practice Sylvie Rodrigue, Ad. E. have been recognized at the 2024 Benchmark Canada Awards.

Linda was named Ontario Litigator of the Year for the second time in her career, and Sylvie was named Product Liability Litigator of the Year for the third time.

Linda has been recognized for years for her brilliance as a litigator and last week was named a Top 50 Trial Lawyer by Benchmark. In 2023, she was awarded the OBA Award of Excellence in Civil Litigation, was named on the Top 100 Women in Litigation list by Benchmark, and was listed in the Hall of Fame of The Legal 500 Canada edition for receiving “constant praise from their clients for continued excellence”.

Sylvie’s excellence in product liability litigation is widely acknowledged and celebrated. In 2023 alone, Sylvie was awarded the OBA Award for Excellence in Class Actions and was named on the Top 100 Women in Litigation list by Benchmark. She has been featured on Benchmark Litigation’s Top 50 Women Litigators in Canada list several times and has been consistently named a leading lawyer in product liability by the legal community, including Chambers Canada, LMG Life Sciences, Best Lawyers in Canada, Who’s Who Legal and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.

In addition to these individual awards, we were also awarded the National Impact Case of the Year for our work acting as counsel to Vienna Insurance Group in successfully obtaining a judgment in a contract dispute before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) concerning a global insurance program and reinsurance policy.
