What fintechs need to know about AML

Part of the “From policy to practice: fintech’s new state of play” series

As the regulatory perimeter governing Canadian fintech expands, companies across the ecosystem are grappling with the implications. In this series, we examine new regulatory developments and discuss how fintechs, financial institutions, payment companies and others can prepare, including how best to engage with regulators.

What fintechs need to know about AML

Join us for a primer on anti-money laundering compliance issues relevant to fintechs. Our panel will explore a wide range of payments activities, including virtual accounts, prepaid cards, co-branded products, money transfers and payment service providers, as well as lending and digital currency.

We will also discuss relevant updates to the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMTLFA), including sanctions reporting requirements, and explore how money services business obligations under PCMTLFA relate to payment service provider obligations under the Retail Payment Activities Act.

This session will be presented in English.
